Shanley Triggs, a native Vermonter is largely a self taught watercolor artist. She received her BA in English from Trinity College of Vermont in 1972 and entered the teaching field. Her interest in art led her to continue her education at Community College of Vermont where she received 18 credits in art. Shanley has also participated in Vermont Week at the Vermont Studio School in Johnson, Vermont and received an Artist Development Grant from the Vermont Council on the Arts for a workshop in egg tempera painting in 2007. Over twenty years of painting in watercolor she has been in many juried shows and festivals including Arts Alive Festival of Fine Art 2010 in Burlington, Vermont and for the last five years, BCA Center Artist Market in Burlington, Vermont. She has received awards for her work including Best in Watercolor at For Arts Sake in Stowe, Vermont and one of her paintings was chosen for the Fletcher Allen Vermont Artist annual calendar. She teaches a series of classes a couple of times during the year and recently she taught five watercolor workshops at the Vermont Flower Show 2011.
In 2002, she created her business known as Vermont H’Art under which she sells her originals and prints. Her framed mini-prints can be found in many gift specialty shops throughout Vermont and Massachusetts. She continually strives to market her work this way and plans to have more solo exhibits of her original paintings. Her focus on preserving the Vermont barns on paper is an ongoing project of a very personal nature and in so doing she plans to help the Vermont Preservation Trust with a contribution from the sale of a limited edition print for actual preservation of Vermont barns.
She lives in her hometown of Milton, Vermont where she grew up on a dairy farm and first became aware of the beautiful Vermont landscape which still inspires her creativity to this day.
