Kim Sutherland began Divergence Design in 2007 shortly after moving from Maryland to Burlington, Vermont. With a BFA in theatre and Graduate studies in Art Direction at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Kim has an eclectic design background. She worked briefly with a master goldsmith in Frederick, Maryland gaining a deeper understanding of designing with gemstones, diamonds and precious metals. Kim’s work is influenced by ancient art, decorating and period fashion. Her work reflects her interest in combining incongruous materials into unique, art-inspired fashion jewelry.
