Made from solid hardwoods such as Walnut, Hard Sap Maple, Bird’s Eye Maple, and Curly Maple, our high quality wood products highlight the natural grain and beauty of wood and, at the same time, provide functionality and durability. Most of our wood supply comes from managed forests and the wood is purchased locally to help the Vermont economy.

A few words about us
From humble beginnings (o.k. not humble, just normal) I was born and raised in Montvale, NJ. I graduated from Pascack Hills High School in 1987 and went on to earn a BS in Finance at Bryant College (Smithfield, RI) where I graduated in 1991.

Over the years I have worked for some great people and I also worked for some not so great people. I worked for several Fortune 100 companies and also a company with fewer than 10 employees. I started working on my MBA as I thought it would increase my marketability and help me “find” myself as I was having trouble finding a career path that excited me. Ironically, it was an MBA class that keyed me in on my future.

An introspective class helped me figure out that to be successful in your professional life, you needed to be passionate about what you do. After I decided that I wanted to work with wood to highlight the beauty of natural grain patterns in regular and figured specimens, it became apparent that with our family of three, soon to be four and five, our continued NYC lifestyle was just not possible.

In June of 2003, with heavy hearts, the Glickmans left New York City and landed in Williston, Vermont where we have plenty of room for our three children to run around. The Vermont Butcher Block and Board Company, LLC was born in 2003 after years of research and planning.

We provide our customers with premium quality wood products that highlight the natural grain patterns of the wood. We don’t use stains, paints, or veneers, only clear finishes and treatments. Our pieces are functional works of art!
