HEIDI COCKWILL
Born in the UK, I attended Bournemouth and Poole College of Arts and Technology where I studied Natural History Illustration-Specializing in detailed drawings of plants and animals as well as studying the basics of calligraphy, photography and design.
On graduating college my first job was as a ceramic artist with a company that made tiny jewelry boxes, hand painting miniature wildlife and decorative scenes.
I then went to work for Dartington Crystal, the UK's largest manufacturer of clear crystal. I worked for them for 10 years and that was where I taught myself to apply my artistic skills to glass eventually leaving to run my own business.
Having moved to the USA in 1996 I was accepted into the Guild of Glass Engravers in 1998 I worked for Simon Pearce until 2003 when I again set up my own business.
I now still do all of Simon Pearce's hand engraved pieces as well as doing demonstration and "on the spot" work for the company as requested, which I enjoy.
I have, amongst others, completed commissions for the British Royal Family, the British former Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher and also for Hilary Clinton.
