Lada Bohac is the owner of the Route 4 Glassblowing Studio. Originally from Morava in the Czech Republic he entered Glassblowing School at 15. After two years in the trade school he switched to study at prestigious glass maker Crystalex in Novy Bor, in the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic. For three years there he studied the art and design of glass, incorporating art history, the development of art in glass and methods of creating different styles of artisan glass. Bohemian glassblowing dates back to the 13th century and has, through the ages, competed with Venice as the art glass capital of the world.
After working at Crystalex for 13 years he was approached by Simon Pearce Glass Company and came to Vermont in 1995. He was at Simon Pearce for 10 years before he and his wife Lena decided to open their own glassblowing studio. Located in Quechee Gorge Village in Quechee, Vermont the studio specializes in colored glass in a variety of styles and shapes. Aside from the gallery, Bohac is a member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and has pieces in their galleries and also sells wholesale to gift and museum shops.
